Metaplanet Inc. – a Japanese Bitcoin Treasury Company – has revealed that they have purchased another 150 BTC. That brings the company's total Bitcoin holdings to 3,350 Bitcoin.
At time of publishing, that means the company holds just over $290 million, or in its local currency that's 42.216 billion yen. CoinGecko’s data shows that the Bitcoin price has risen to $88,000, after gaining 3.5% within the past 24 hours.
Prior to this acquisition, the company was the 10th largest corporate Bitcoin holder in the world.
The Japanese BTC treasury company, whose moto is "secure the future with Bitcoin," also recently announced Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump, has joined its board of directors.
Eric Trump joins the "newly formed team of Strategic Board of Advisors", as posted on social media March 21.
Trump was welcomed by the company because of his experience with “real estate and finance” as well as brand building, which will help to drive BTC’s adoption.
Metaplanet already shared its intentions to collect 10,000 BTC in 2025, and 21,000 BTC in 2026. “Asia’s largest equity capital raising for Bitcoin” is already under way.
The company's current stock price, on Yahoo Finance, having spiked recently, sits at 5,060 at time of publishing.
The Trump family’s DeFi platform WLFI has generated around $390,000,000 in revenue for them.
