Gala Games, a blockchain-based game publisher, has announced that an officially licensed role-playing “The Walking Dead”, based on popular television show of the same name will close down its website after July 31.
The Walking Dead: Empires was available in beta in the past year, after it was first announced at the end of 2021.
Gala Games said in a recent statement that “after careful consideration we made the hard decision to retire The Walking Dead Empires. The last date for playable content is July 31st, 2025.”
The game will be available for playtests in 2023. Players must build bases and defend themselves from “walkers” or zombies. Users could purchase NFTs to enhance their experience. Weapons and SuppliesOr deeds of land for the purpose of building a base.
The NFT-based in-game item in The Walking Dead Empires was indestructible.

Several people did not take it kindly.
Jesus Martinez, a crypto-gaming personality on X (formerly Twitter), said that “The Walking Dead Empires has officially rugs Gala.” People paid up to $10K+ in lands, and now they get $2 mystery boxes.

Holders of The Walking Dead: Empires non-flash cards, as per a snapshot taken on April 29, will receive a mystery box with items based on their Walking Dead Non-Flash Cards’ type and rarity.
